Peychaud's Bitters

About Peychaud's Bitters

Peychaud's Bitters are regarded as an indispensable staple in any sophisticated bar, and we could not agree more. In fact, there is no Sazerac cocktail without Peychaud's. With production dating back to the 1800s, Peychaud's Bitters were originally created by Antione Amédée Peychaud, who also created the Sazerac cocktail. This little elixir can be surprisingly tricky to find these days.

Tasting Notes

Similar to Angostura Bitters in that they're a gentian-based bitters, but the taste profile differs according to Mr. Boston Drinks, it's light and fruity with hints of caramel, licorice, and cherry and spices. The aroma contains notes of mint and anise.

Suggested Serves

Recommended By Anders Erickson and just about everyone else

Here's what Anders has to say about Peychaud's Bitters, "the flavor of New Orleans! An important ingredient in many NOLA classics."

Production Notes

Today, these gentian-based bitters are produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky.

5oz & 70 Proof
